The sisterhood of motherhood
I have always wanted to be a SAHM. I never thought it would be possible. But in 2010 I became one.
Now my days are filled with chauffeuring duties – bringing my children to/from school and their other classes. I coach them in their studies, I bring them out to play, I read with them, and used to have every single meal with all three of them everyday. Once, I wrote in my facebook status “我太幸福了。每天和孩子一起, 看书看云”
I have also made new friends. We have coffee/tea and breakfast at each other’s home, and we enjoy a glass of ice-lemon tea at the hawker centre while we wait for our children to get off from school. We meet three times a day (morning, noon and night) because we have children studying in both the morning and afternoon session.
We are also friends on watsapps and we share many things with each other there.
Some of them are great with crafts and they inspire us all with their creations.
We tickle each other with funny pictures.
We share our concerns, and we offer each other prayers and encouragement.
We also share our breakfast/recess/lunch menu with each other. I am amazed at the amount of effort my friends would take to prepare individual meals for every one of their family members (“Breakfast for A and B is garlic bread, for Hubby is big pao, Recess for A is garlic bread, for B is banana muffin, Lunch for A is garlic bread and for B is PBJ sandwich and a packet of milk).
Their food may not be as scientifically researched nor beautifully presented as some I have seen, but they are perfectly good, home-made with love.
Thanks to them, here is a sample of my breakfast in the past three weeks!
All mothers unite! All hail the sisterhood!
